Meet Ash
2 Year Old • Rescued Resident
Despite their name, not all are "red", they come in silver, cross (mixed), or even almost black. They have iconic bushy tails, which help with communication and balance and stunning vertical split pupils, which are great for hunting at dawn and dusk.
They're incredibly adaptable and can be found in forests, farmland, mountains and even cities. Famous for their intelligence, they are great with problem solving. Their hunting style includes the iconic "mousing pounce" and they can hear low frequency sounds extremely well - helping them detect animals under soil.
By sponsoring Ash, you help ensure her continued care, enrichment and long-term welfare, while directly supporting the vital rescue work of our sanctuary.
Ash's Story
Ash our American Red-Tail Fox came into our care through a mutual acquaintance. She had originally been purchased as a pet; however, it became clear that her needs could not be adequately met and a conversation was had with the owner who agreed that with us she'd have the significant space, physical and psychological wellbeing requirements that were unfortunately not available in her previous home.
Recognising this, the owner agreed to sell Ash, who now has an environment better suited to her needs. We were able to offer her a safe, secure and enriched space where she can display natural behaviours and receive the standard of care she truly deserves.
Since arriving with us, Ash has grown in confidence and character, showing her intelligence, curiousness and playfulness. She loves playing with the other animals. Her journey is a reminder of why we do what we do.
